how it started
best option was born out of a desire to maximize the fun of spending time with friends. Heiko and Anne, best friends for over 15 years, had shared many memorable moments together with their wonderful group of friends – from joint vacation adventures to year-long pen and paper campaigns to delicious dinner events. But there was always one thing that annoyed them a little bit: discussions to make decisions.
For example, what movie to watch? What board game to play? Where to order food? These discussions often wasted valuable time and made it easy for some people in the group to be overlooked. So, Heiko and Anne decided to take matters into their own hands and introduced a spreadsheet for decision-making.
how it’s going
After various iterations on the spreadsheet, they found that the most simple way worked best: everyone rates the options with a value between -3 and +3 without seeing what others had entered. The only flaw: Everyone hates spreadsheets.
That’s when best option was born – the tool they built based on that finding and spreadsheet.

Where to order food?
Nothing beats Italian. Let’s have Vitello Tonnato, Pizza and Tiramisu.
What movie to watch?
Preferably it’s not a movie, but a series with strong story.
What boardgame to play?
Starcraft! The most well-balanced strategy game of all time.
Your job at best option?
Developing the app with a lot of love for security and identity management.

Where to order food?
I am sucker for ordering Indian. Currys don’t get worse when delivered through weather and time.
What movie to watch?
Everything everywhere all at once is my fav of the year.
What boardgame to play?
Recently I like clever card games even more: Let’s play The Crew.
Your job at best option?
Using a lot of yellow. Website, content and marketing are on my list.
